I. Paper submissions

Important dates

· Notification - July 1, 2011

Proceedings
Printed proceedings, with all accepted submissions, will be ready for the conference.

Post Conference Publication

  • Invitation to publish a paper in the special issue of Studies in Material Thinking will be communicated to authors by November 15, 2011.
  • The final, revised version of the paper should be submitted to Studies in Material Thinking no later than January 15, 2012. The new volume is expected to be on-line February/March, 2012.
  • Conference proceedings and the exhibition catalogue will be published on-line in Borås Academic Digital Archive February 2012.

Format

Submission Format: 2 page extended abstract.
Camera-ready Format: Up to 10 pages.

The SIGCHI Conference Proceedings Format template should be used for submitting extended abstracts and final papers.

Presentation at conference: Authors will be given 25 minutes total (20 minutes talk with 5 minutes questions) to present their work.

The main topics of the conference are:

- Digital architecture
- Interaction design
- New media art
- Smart textiles

We welcome submissions which focus on the above topics from the perspective of art/design/architecture as well as from a technology perspective.

Each submitted abstract will be reviewed by members of the Conference Program Committee and authors will be notified of acceptance for presentation or rejection by July 1, 2011.

Authors of accepted abstracts will receive instructions for camera-ready version of the final papers and how to prepare for the oral presentation. A camera-ready version of the final paper must be submitted by
October 1, 2011 at the latest.

The presence of at least one of the authors at the conference is mandatory.
Please complete your registration and go through the payment procedure at the registrationplatform, as soon as possible.

By submitting a paper, the author(s) agree that,
if the paper is accepted they will:

  • Submit a final, revised, camera-ready PDF version by October 1, 2011
  • Camera ready format: up to 10 pages.
  • Register at least one author to attend the conference and to present the accepted paper.

When finalizing your camera-ready PDF version please make sure your take the reviewer’s comments into consideration.

Submission must be original work and please note that submissions will not be published without a signed form releasing publishing copyright to the publisher CTF, The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås.

Accepted Papers will be printed in the Ambience’11 Conference Proceedings and also later published on the conference website.

 

II. Exhibition submissions

Important dates:

Exhibition Catalogue

Accepted work for the exhibition will be represented in the Ambience’11 Exhibition Catalogue, and also later published on the conference website.

Each projects will get 1-3 spreads depending on the quality of the visual material

Final submission:

  • Title and year of completion of the art/design/architectural work
  • Please send us 1-5 digital images all in 300 dpi, at least one in size 18,3 x 25,7cm (If you want you can also send larger images that will cover the full spread 36,6 x 25,7cm) with name of the photographer.
  • A revised text describing the artist's /designer´s /architect´s statement of either 450 or 1200 words. Captions not included. Include a description of the concept and the intent of your work and a technical statement.
  • All text must be written in English and proofread.
  • Submission must be original work and please note that submissions will not be published without a signed form releasing publishing copyright – for the artist´s statements – to the publisher CTF, The Swedish School of Textiles, University of Borås.

Preparations for exhibition:

  • A detailed floor plan including minimum floor space required, dimensions of all components, lighting, audio, power, and network requirements. Include a list of required hardware and software that you will provide. If you have don this, you do not need to send this again.
  • Ship all exhibition material by October 1, 2011 or bring your exhibition piece when you arrive before the conference. IMPORTANT: If you bring your exhibition piece with you, building can start from Nov 26, 10.00-18.00. The exhibition hall will also be open for exhibition setup Nov 27, 10.00-17.00.
    Your exhibition piece need to be done by Nov 27, 17.00 the latest.

For final submission the artist/ designer /architect agree that:

  • register at least one artist/designer /architect to attend the exhibition
  • are responsible for the freight and the costs included in the freight procedure to and from the exhibition hall
  • are responsible for setting up their own exhibition cases in the exhibition hall according to the instructions given by the Exhibition Committee
  • are required to remove all exhibition materials from the exhibition hall from November 30 (at 17.00-18.00) or December 1 from 10.00 to be finalized 20:00 latest.
